ZFF – Zurich Film Festival

The Zurich Film Festival provides a platform for the most promising filmmakers from around the globe.

October 3 – 13, 2024

Every fall, thousands of movie enthusiasts and media and film professionals attend the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) to see one of around 100 movies that are screened over a period of 11 days. The aim of the Zurich Film Festival is to offer larger audiences an insight into the work of young, emerging filmmakers from all over the world and to promote the exchange of ideas between established filmmakers, creative new talent, and the public. ZFF is the most important festival for cinema releases in the German-speaking world and an ideal networking platform.

Prizes and Competitions

In two international competitions, (“International Feature Film” and “International Documentary Competition”), young filmmakers compete for the main prize, the Golden Eye. In the “Gala Premieres” section, legendary directors and Hollywood stars present this year’s most highly anticipated movies, which have a great chance of winning an Oscar. Furthermore, the festival presents film series on current topics, such as “#Hashtag” or “Border Lines”.

Locations

The hub of the festival activity is Zurich’s Sechseläutenplatz, situated in the heart of the city and on the shore of Lake Zurich. The festival movie theaters, Piccadilly, Corso, and Le Paris, as well as the Festival Centre, are located here. Additional Festival movie theaters – Arena Cinemas Sihlcity, Frame and the Kongresshaus – are just a few minutes away.

For Kids

Laugh, discover, empathize, dive into the action, share the thrills, contemplate, understand, be amazed! The “ZFF for Kids” series presents outstanding movies for children and families from all over the world. In addition, at the majority of the movie presentations, members of the public also have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers in person. Tickets for the ZFF children’s movies can be purchased at a special price of CHF 12.20. The films are suitable for children between 4-14 years. It is generally recommended that children are accompanied by an adult.
