In Zurich, there are various bike hire stations, as well as bike sharing systems that work without having a stationary infrastructure. As a result, visitors can get hold of a temporary bike in the city quickly and easily.
In order to reach your destination safely, you should take note of the following tips:
- It is recommended to use the yellow marked bike paths
- Ask the bike hire operator for a bike helmet
- Only cycle where bikes are permitted (e.g. not on the sidewalks)
- Give clear hand signals and make eye contact with other road users
- In Zurich und throughout Switzerland, road users coming from the right have right of way
- Cycling on Bahnhofstrasse is strictly prohibited
- Well pumped-up tires make cycling more enjoyable: there are many public bike pumps in the city center which can be used free of charge (you can find an overview here)
